Risky Business: Framing Security Transformation - IDC´s Security Breakfast Briefing During Infosec, 8am, 5th June, Hilton Olympia

The era of security being the ‘department of no’ is over! Security teams are casting off their legacy as inward-looking technologists and putting on a new mantle as outward-looking business leaders. With security leaders reaching out to the rest of the enterprise, they have found that risk is the ‘lingua franca’ that allows them to express security concerns in terms the business can understand. To quote the CISO of a European public body: “risk is everything!” However, there are three key questions that security leaders must answer through this new language of risk:

• How to quantify security risk?
• How to position security related to business outcomes?
• How to make security part of a wider (and ecosystem-wide) enterprise risk approach?

To handle these challenges, the role of the security team and security leaders is changing and evolving. Yet, to quote the CISO of a European digital agency group, “where there is change, there is always a skills gap”. Join Dominic Trott, Romain Fouchereau, Mark Child and Konstantin Rychkov (and some “special guests”) at our Infosec Breakfast Briefing to learn more about the challenges faced by security teams and the opportunities this creates for third parties to provide support.
